All Our Suns is a project by Michelle Chandra that tracks the use of #sunset and #sunrise on Instagram to show where the sun is rising and setting as it happens around the world.
The project uses an algorithm that turns crowdsourced data into visuals that are used for three live maps. While one map tracks the sun's movements, another pinpoints the locations on an interactive map, while the third makes a note of when the last #sunset and the first #sunset posts are shared.
Although it's become a bit of a cliché for Instagram users to post sunset and sunrise photos, this project compiles them in a way that meaningfully maps the impact of time and beauty of these moments as they happen on a daily basis across the globe.
