The Keiun Building by Tokyo-based Aisaka Architects is a stunning office building with a facade resembling a colorful woven basket. The facade is constructed of sheets of red aluminum and offers a refreshing take on the four-storey building that sits between a train station and a fire hall.
The woven sheets of aluminium are five different shades of red and were designed by Aisaka Architects to act as sun shades for the workers inside, while the red color is a reference to the brick building that previously stood at the space. The woven facade is also a reference to a traditional Japanese bamboo blind and serves as a bright and refreshing element to an otherwise conventional city block.
