Envision, a company that specializes in assistive technology products, has unveiled the Envision Glasses, which take the form of AI wearables that are designed to make it possible for wearers with varying degrees of blindness to know what objects they're looking at.
Announced in updated form at the CSUN Assistive Technology Conference, these AI wearables are set up in conjunction with a smartphone app, before then relying on the wonders of AI, Qualcomm Quad Core processing and Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 parts to go about working their magic.
Specifically, users can go about swiping the right arm of the glasses to select a given mode, before double-tapping to record an image. The embedded AI algorithm can then do things from identifying colors, searching for specific people or reading and speaking out short streams of texts such as signs.
Priced at just over $3,600, the Envision Glasses well and truly look to a more comfortable and inclusive future for people with vision impairments.
