Photographer Agan Harahap brings wild animals into the very unnatural habitat that is the food market. His photo series entitled ‘Garden Fresh’ shows animals, which are only typically seen in the zoo, casually strolling around the aisles while hunting down their next meal.
These bright and colorful photographs are meant to serve as a message to demonstrate how we as humans interpret animals within our daily lives. As humans, we frequently anthropomorphize them, which partially takes away from their true identity. As the photographer explains on his site,“we cannot help but see animals from a human vantage point, and therefore in some sense all the works in the present exhibition are actually about us.”
Agan Harahap is not only able to provide an interesting social critique about our perspective and correlating treatment of animals, but they are also amusing photos to peruse.
