Instagram Tests Ads That Can't Be Skipped
Lima Kalim — June 3, 2024 — Social Media
Instagram debuts a new advertising feature -- unskippable Instagram ads. Meta, Instagram's parent company, plans to introduce a new ad feature that does not allow users to skip an ad. The user will have to complete watching the ad in order to continue scrolling through the feed. This new method has been coined "ad break" and is currently being tested on a select group of users. Reports of this test have been mentioned on Twitter and Reddit. "Ad breaks" are Meta's latest attempt to monetize the platform.
Ads are unavoidable on some platforms, such as YouTube. However, this will be the first time ads won't be skippable on Instagram.
