adidas presents its latest efforts when it comes to accessible design with the collaboration alongside nonprofit organization Adaptive Sports Northwest, otherwise known as ASNW. The two work together to create a unique and adaptive basketball uniform that caters to those who rely on wheelchairs. It is made specifically for the PNW Reign Women's wheelchair basketball team and the looks made its first appearance at the NWBA Tournament.
This project kicked off in Portland when the Adidas Innovation team designed the specialized kits. The collaborative progress involved feedback from players and testing to optimize the mechanics and overall performance. Executive director or ASNW Jennifer Armbruster explains, “For the first time athletes have been part of the entire process—they got to see the people behind the work, their passion through every interaction, their commitment to finding the best product for wheelchair basketball players."
