Living in an urban environment means having to deal with noise pollution when opening a window for some fresh air, so the Acoustic Friendly Ventilation Window (AFVW) has been developed in response to this.
The window works to provide natural ventilation thanks to two open vents that will mechanically cycle air into a space in a manner that is four-times better than a conventional window. The system will also reduce the instance of urban noise by 26 decibels to keep the sounds of traffic and city life at bay.
The Acoustic Friendly Ventilation Window (AFVW) has been developed as a prototype by a team of researchers at the National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Design and Environment (SDE).
