Smart lock provider August Home and vacation rental platform HomeAway are now teaming up to change access to short-term rentals.
In the same way that some hotel chains are adopting keyless entry systems that allow entry to a suite via one's smartphone, August Home and HomeAway are implementing a similar system. Through this partnership, hosts and guests are able to securely lock and access short-term rentals with just the August Smart Lock and the August Smart Keypad.
Rather than having to locate a physical key to gain access to their rental, guests who book through HomeAway will now be able to receive a secure PIN. As well as making it easy for guests to get in and out of their short-term rental, this keyless system also eliminates problems that result from keys being lost or forgotten.
