The A1Architects 'Black Teahouse' is as aesthetically zen as the art of making a good cup of tea. The flat-roofed pagoda overlooks grassy knolls and a picturesque S-shaped body of water.
The teahouse is meant to blend into its surroundings, becoming part of nature rather than something that exists on its own. Black-charred timber is used on the exterior, while a cozy woven sisal rope covers the interior ceiling. Adjustable screen doors allow guests to change the layout of the teahouse, closing off or opening up the space seamlessly. The heart of the home is where the delicately hung tea kettle rests. Like traditional teahouses, guests are to gather around the center and partake in the ceremonial practice of tea serving.
