The Issey Miyake Bao Bao Store Boasts Intergalactic Shop Merchandising

The new ‘Issey Mikaye Bao Bao’ store in Shinjuku, Japan features interactive walls that reflect the reoccurring triangles in the brand's signature handbags.

The shiny, space-like interior facade was created by Tokyo-based design firm Moment Design. The radical retail space is reflective of the brand's slick, futuristic design. As fashionistas visit the store the monochrome wall backings will twinkle and shape shift. Moment Design created an interactive and innovative way of merchandising fashionable products. The wall literally comes alive and becomes part of the experience for visitors to the store.

I think the Issey Miyake Bao Bao store is an excellent way of making retail spaces more radical for customers who already enjoy the design aesthetics of their favorite brand; making their shopping trip into more of a sensory, engaging and overall more enjoyable experience.
