Talented design firm Love & Robots recently put together a beautifully fashionable cape using 3D technology to print the garment. The cape, known as the Plumage, recreates the aesthetic of bird feathers using computer generated graphics and materials.
The Plumage spencer top is essentially a stylish short cape that drapes across the shoulders. The piece is made from a grand total of 6000 white polyamide pieces that are shaped like oval tiles to recreate the aesthetic of feathers. The pieces are overlaid to give the effect of bird wings. Each of the pieces are printed using 3D technology. The overall effect is quite breathtaking as the piece is elegant, minimalist, simple and fragile. The cape really does make the wearer look as though they have wings.
