Austrian designer Julia Koerner garnered attention for her work on designing jewelry for the hit film Black Panther. She creates a new series of handbags on the same foundation of nature inspirations and computer algorithms. These are available to shop on her website and boast a dynamic otherworldly aesthetic.
The bags appear to have a skeletal structure with a rigid and lightweight feel to it. It is particularly inspired by the shape of dried kelp that is found along the pacific coastline. Thus, being dubbed the KELP MINI, it was 3D printed following scans of kelp that had undergone editing and manipulation. The base is hinged and closed at the top with a chain that hooks along to details inside the bag.
