Harris Jay Rosenberg Alterman — January 12, 2012 — Autos
The 2012 Ford Focus is taking going green to a whole new level, and announced at the 2012 NAIAS that the car will have seats made completely from recycled plastic bottles.
This level of green is up there on the environmentally friendly scale. All five seats in the car will have fabric made from 22 polyethylene terephthalate bottles, which is about 4.4 bottles per seat. This initiative is aimed at raising awareness about recycling. Ford also used dandelions to make some of the rubber parts for the automobile.
The 2012 Ford Focus is a step towards a greener tomorrow. Who knows, perhaps it won’t be long before many are driving around in cars made of soil and tree bark.
