Intel Unveiled its Flagship 'i9-12900KS' Ultra-Fast Processor
Colin Smith — March 30, 2022 — Tech
Intel unveiled the 'i9-12900KS' central processing unit (CPU) as its newest flagship processor. Intel has stated that the i9-12900KS is the "world's fastest desktop processor," and its performance specifications certainly reflect this for the consumer market. The processor boasts 16 cores and 24 threads with a boost frequency of 5.5 GHz. This is a landmark CPU release as it is the first of its kind to achieve a 5.5 GHz clock speed on more than a single core simultaneously.
The i9-12900KS CPU supports up to 4,800MHz DDR5 RAM with up to 128GB of capacity and 'PCIe Gen5' and 'Gen4' cards. On top of this, the CPU runs on the FCLGA1700 socket, which is supported by many existing motherboards through a software update. The i9-12900KS releases on April 5th, 2022, with an MSRP of $739 USD. Intel is hosting the 'Talking Tech' stream on this day to discuss the processor and potentially reveal upcoming products.
