From Hipster Football Branding to Simplified Sports Symbols

Professional sports in North America would look a lot different if just one of these radical sports logo redesigns went from concept to reality. Many teams change logos in an attempt to modernize, while some prefer to keep it old school in an homage to the franchise's heritage. These radical sports logo redesigns swing more towards the former than the latter, eschewing heritage for topicality.
In addition to hipster NFL logos, there are also NFL helmets that pay tribute to Star Wars and soccer club (European football) logos that have been given the minimalist treatment. In addition to being fun to look at, these radical sports logo redesigns do a great job at bridging the gap between design, art and sports. Here's hoping a few professional sports teams at least consider minimalist or hipster mascots in the future.
