From Youth-Oriented E-Bikes to All-Electric Air Taxis
Niko Pajkovic — October 16, 2021 — Autos
The October 2021 auto trends are informed by the industry's increasingly competitive landscape, which sees major automotive brands in an ongoing battle to out-innovate one another. From flying electric vehicle concepts to pot hole-detecting scooters, there was no shortage of boundary-pushing auto developments this month.
Not surprisingly, then, innovations in the electric vehicle space were bountiful. The newly launched Lucid 'Air Dream Edition' dethroned Tesla, becoming the longest range EV on the market. Meanwhile, Hyundai unveiled the concept for its hydrogen-powered sportscar titled the 'Hyundai Vision FK.' However, the most exciting announcement came from Airbus, which revealed the concept for its all-electric, remotely piloted air taxi -- a flying vehicle for urban transportation.
In addition, a variety of new e-bikes and urban commuter vehicles were also launched this month. The sleek new motorcycle-inspired 'Vinci' e-bike was released, posing a challenge to electric motorbike brands like SUPER73 and Phatour. Elsewhere, Wood Wood launched a 4x4, pedal-assisted unit with e-bike designer Hermansen.
