From Blatant Issue-Addressing Apparel to Artistic Intention Tees
Alyson Wyers — October 9, 2013 — Pop Culture
This collection of honest shirts ranges from cute to sassy to arrogant to shocking, but all are pretty funny. This trend is unisex, as both men and women are letting their fashion choices figuratively speak for them. The vast majority of these slogans are on t-shirts, but they also can be found on sweatshirts and tank tops in a variety of styles and colors. Some make pop culture references by quoting movies like Mean Girls, as well as making mentions of institutions like Vogue and Starbucks.
Many of these designs are insulting, suggesting the wearer does not have time for them and would rather be doing a range of other activities, like napping or playing with cats. Others are honest but not rude, hinting at motivations and deeper emotions.
