From Hipster Photo Addict Charts to Sarcastic Stereotype Filler Sites
Vivian Lau — May 16, 2012 — Pop Culture
The hipster: an individual perceived to avoid all things mainstream like the plague (they would identify themselves otherwise); increasingly prevalent as a cultural icon; subject to a string of hipster-hating spoofs.
Fashion, music, hangouts -- it seems hipsters have everything of their own. Though they do not overtly pride themselves in their differences, they are easily identified and are often mocked by blogs, Tumblr posts, videos -- the majority -- as a result. From defining the standard hipster party etiquette to citing comical captions on pictures of people who are all too consumed by their thoughts or emotions, the possiparodies are endless.
Though admittedly this hostile treatment is not always just, there is little harm in a bit of good humor.
