From Minimalist Portraits to Honorary Street Murals
Harris Jay Rosenberg Alterman — March 3, 2012 — Pop Culture
To pay respects to one of the greatest leaders of all time, artists and humanitarians from all across the world have created these Mahatma Gandhi tributes. Each creation is special in its own way, but they all pay respects to the iconic leader of peace.
With the use of shadows, artist Alex Cherry made a bold recreation of Gandhi's legendary face where the classic features of Gandhi jump out. He was known for his round glasses and bushy mustache, which many artists focus on especially in some of the minimalist re-creations. India even marked a day to ban smoking where tons of children dressed up with fake mustaches and shower caps.
All of these Gandhi tributes do a superb job of honoring one of the greatest leaders for peace of all time.
