From Elegant Hippie Apparel to School Girl-Grunge Fashion

Whether you're the owner of a burgeoning street-style blog, work in the fashion industry, or are simply looking to develop your personal style on a day-to-day basis, fashion trends affect your everyday life. This was especially true in 2013, as the world of fashion permeated pop culture in a bigger way than ever before.
For a few years now, the steady success of street-style blogging has been making the once-exclusive fashion industry easier to access. This past year kept the pattern going, except this time, indie labels celebritized by big bloggers were replaced by high-end threads rocked by the most unexpected group of celebrities: mixtape rappers like A$AP Rocky and Trinidad James. Even Jay-Z proclaimed that he "rocks Tom Ford," inspiring a new demographic to keep their eyes on the catwalks.
The world of fashion also saw a shift in 2013 regarding the unkempt hipster and boho styles that dominated runways (and websites) in 2012. Perfectly polished looks were revisited to the delight of many fashion purists, and though some of the more carefree looks remained en vogue, they did so with significantly more elegance and calculation than their predecessors.
Based on what's cutting-edge and new, the fashion industry is an ever-evolving space. If you'd like some help keeping up and hunting for insight, check out our Fashion Trend Report.
