From Zombified Muppets to Beat-Up Anime Critters

Looking at dark cartoon characters is an easy way to spoil your innocent childhood memories. It is deeply disturbing to see depictions that take the whimsy out of fond childhood characters to imagine them in a more adult light. Although we can empathize, cartoons lose their charm when they are put into real-world situations like poverty and having to undergo surgery.
Although some of these art pieces are grim and quite gruesome, the creepiest of all is when animated characters are imagined as humans. While exaggerated facial features are cute in the cartoon world, realistic human-like adaptations are downright nightmare-inducing -- there is no quicker way to wreck the pristine images you have of your favorite cartoon characters.
