While colorful fast food may sound unappealing to some, these unique menu offerings put a fun spin on traditional dishes. As various fast food chains have expanded globally, there is increasing pressure to offer dishes that are unique and interesting. Whether it is a hamburger or a serving of fried chicken, color has become an easy way to set a new menu item apart from the competition.
One of the most common reasons for adding color to a dish is to make the item appropriate for the holiday season. Although Christmas colors are a popular choice, there are also meals that celebrate more obscure holidays as well. For example there are green and blue burgers that help celebrate Earth Day, as well as a colorful poutine dish that comes in the classic Mardi Gras colors.
Beyond the holiday season, there a number of colorful fast food dishes that are designed to indicate the flavor of the food. While some of these flavors are familiar, others are quite bizarre. Some of theses flavored dishes include fruity fried chicken, squid ink cheeseburgers and tomato powder-infused buns.
