Carrie Underwood Disapproves
Ayman — November 5, 2008 — Social Good
Carrie Underwood is creating waves across the blogosphere for saying she’s lost respect for celebrities like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, and George Clooney, to name a few.
Naturally, Carrie Underwood did not explicitly name these celebrities. What she did say is that she loses respect for those celebrities who publicly endorse a candidate.
Carrie Underwood shared her political celebrity insight in the recent issue of TV Guide, “There is someone I do support, but I don’t support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate.”
“It’s saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions,” she explains. “I would never want anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to. Music is where you go to get away from all the BS. Whether it’s from politics or just the world around you, music should be an escape.”
While I understand that sometimes people get fed up with celebrities imposing their political opinions and views, we have to remember that these celebrities are people too and we can’t take away their right of having an opinion about important matters. Any person, rich or poor, regular or famous, should be able to stand up by what he or she believes. By following Carrie Underwood’s exact logic, people should be smart enough to not follow a celebrity’s political view just because they are famous…
