From Historical Cat-Infused Paintings to Artistic Advertising

Botticelli paintings have been around for centuries, but they are still a plentiful source of inspiration for funny memes, advertisements and artworks created today.
One of Botticelli's most iconic paintings is the 'Birth of Venus,' which has been reinterpreted many, many times. Although Venus has always been revered as a figure of beauty, in some of these modern remixes, she is replaced with characters who are more relevant in today's society. Some of the figures that have recently replaced Venus include those with celebrity status like Beyonce, Internet cats and Lady Gaga.
Lady Gaga's 'ARTPOP' video is hugely inspired by Botticelli, which shows Gaga herself as a Venus-like figure with long, flowing brown locks and true to Gaga style, a shocking outfit that only consists of shell bikini.
