These Tributes are in Honor of Bastille Day on July 14th
Alyson Wyers — July 14, 2014 — Pop Culture
For those who don't know, Bastille Day (or la Fête nationale as it is referred to in France) celebrates the anniversary of the Fête de la Fédération in 1790 and commemorates the storming of the Bastille a year before that. Both pivotal moments in the French Revolution, this national holiday recognizes France's independence from the monarchy and their republic democracy form of government.
While Bastille Day might technically represent the end of Marie Antoinette and her husband King Louis XVI, their opulent and over-the-top fashion choices still serve as fashion inspiration today. This collection of innovations mostly involve fashion, from editorials to prank videos. However, Versailles themed furniture like sophisticated princess seating can also be found among them. The same can be said for guillotine necklace and 3D Parisian historical graphics.
