Eva Dugintseva Designs the Som Chair Concept with No Screws
Amy Duong — April 11, 2024References: yankodesign
Eva Dugintseva designed the Som chair concept, which is a beautiful furniture piece that is made with only sustainable materials. The chair is comprised of a 3D printed construction and is free of any adhesives or screws for a very seamless silhouette. It uses recycled PS, which stands for polystyrene plastic -- it is a material that reduces the harmful impacts often caused by mass-produced chairs.
The 3D printing process makes it easy to experiment and explore dynamic shapes. The Son chair is made from two bent shapes separately crafted with ridged surfaces. The main form of the furniture has a small opening for the smaller piece to carefully slide into and create the supportive foundation of three legs.
