The Hurtigruten Norway Sea Zero Cruise is Fully Electric
Amy Duong — June 9, 2023The new Hurtigruten Norway cruise ship prepared to take to the sea in 2030 is dubbed Sea Zero as passengers will be travelling on a zero-emissions electric structure. The ship will be equipped entirely with gargantuan retractable sails that are complete with a series of solar panels.
Sea Zero is developed by the company with the help of 12 other maritime partners and the research institute SINTEF. The energy supply of the ship can also be recharged in port using a renewable energy source since most of the country's grid uses clean power. The same batteries are estimated to he able to help the ship travel between 300 to 350 nautical miles. Overall, this means that it will be able to embark on an 11-day round trip to be docked and recharged 7-8 times.
