Each piece of this chandelier was made from meters of zipper, sewn together in spirals to create a new material that disperses light brilliantly.
Shapes and forms are important. The designer says he starts by focusing on the technique and the material quality as both aspects will dictate the final shape.
The design itself is based on broken repetition which could be considered mundane at times, but it is in disturbing this repetition that the piece gets an added element of surprise, making it interesting. The zipper chandelier introduces different shapes by contorting a repeated texture.
Vibrant, bright, textured lines make the chandelier look almost creature-like, as it appears to move and constantly evolving.
