Every other Saturday, the Susquehanna River Commons hosts a free yoga on the river class sponsored by the Riverfront Parks Committee.
While the class is free to attend, participants are required to bring their own mats and any beverages that they need to keep themselves hydrated. In terms of class structure, the practice begins with a simple meditation and stretches, gradually becoming more challenging as the hour progresses. Finally, the class closes with a second mindful meditation.
Considering that cost is one of the major factors that prevents people from practicing yoga more regularly, these free classes make health and wellness accessible to all, while also creating an appreciation for the community and local scenery. During one class, a flock of geese even decided to pass by, fully immersing people in the beauty of nature.
