Wooden-Clad Holiday Homes

The Hideg-Ház Home Stands Out From Sculptural Cliffs and Woodlands

In response to a holiday home for a couple, local Hungarian architects and designers Attila Béres and Jusztina Balázs of Béres Architects designed a beautiful rectangular wooden clad home located in the historic town of Kőszeg called Hideg-ház. The residence is set against a former quarry. The exterior of the house is structurally framed in black larch with a common terrace area in the middle that divides the house in two sections, offering a back to back view of stone quarry and the surrounding landscape.

Inspired by the amount of natural light and the picturesque surroundings, the architects decided that these were the most significant elements to the construction and design of the house.

The larger section of the house consists of the main living area, the living room, kitchen, dining area, bedroom, sauna and bathroom, while the smaller section is left for guests of the residence.
