Wombling CIC Recycles Goods Headed for the Landfill

Wombling CIC, which operates in Norwich, Norfolk in the United Kingdom, is a community interest company that reverts waste that would otherwise end up in a landfill through recycling programs.

According to the CIC itself, "Wombling integrates wellbeing and health, education, employment, community and creativity." A degree of creativity must come along with reusing goods that have been destined for the dump. And indeed, creativity plays a factor not only when it comes to recycling, but also marketing methods. Their YouTube channel features visuals of fun flash dances that took place in March 2011, outside Argos, Castle Mall in Norwich.

In addition to recycling and reverting waste, this innovative social enterprise (which was awarded the Social Enterprise Mark) also offers work and volunteer opportunities to disadvantaged members of the community; holds repair courses; and offers training regarding sustainability education.
