This minimalist square wind chimes were designed by Kouichi Okamoto of Kyouei Design from metal and glass, with the designer utilizing to the fullest the properties of both materials in the realm of creating sound.
The chimes, dubbed 'Square Wind Bells', are composed of two iron cut-outs covered in chrome plating. They are attached to each other by way of a slit in each corner, forming a common geometry. As one plate catches the wind, the adjacent one acts as a weight and stripes the transparent drinking glass repeatedly. The noise varies depending on the form and composition of the glasses, which exhibit musical and harmonic tonality as the successive taps reverberate.
