At Imbibe Live, the UK’s leading drinks industry event, The Wasabi Company will be unveiling its new Spirit of Japan range, which includes Wasabi Vodka. This single-distilled and unfiltered product is said to be smooth with the pungent taste of fresh wasabi paste from the company's Dorset and Hampshire farms. As the company describes, Wasabi Vodka is "Buttery at the start [and] brassica flavors of sweet mustard and radish give way to high notes of star anise and pepper, followed by a complex lingering warmth."
To preserve the potency and freshness of the star ingredient, The Wasabi Company vacuum distills the wasabi paste, which prevents a volatile ingredient from breaking down and diminishing the flavor.
The full Spirit of Japan range from The Wasabi Company also includes Yuzucello, Sansho Spiced Rum and Shiso Gin.
