Tokyo-based Architect Junya Ishigami has creatively divided the space inside of this open floor nursery with wall partitions designed to look like clouds.
Located in Atsugi, Japan on the seventh floor of a 13-storey high rise building, this 23,680 square foot children's nursery was originally a mostly wide open office building cafeteria with a series of bulky concrete columns. To help make the space more welcoming to children, the minimally inspired Ishigami decided to create a series of cloud-shaped wall partitions to slot between the existing columns. Each partition is different and features sloping archways and curved openings that allow for light to shine through between each divided space.
Not only do these cloudy dividers look wonderful, but they also have the double duty of helping make the space more functional and welcoming to the children who inhabit it.
