Waffles and ice cream is a classic food pairing that's now being revisited in a new way at Boardwalk Waffles & Ice Cream in Maplewood, Missouri.
Rather than simply serving its thick Belgian waffles with a scoop of ice cream on top, Boardwalk Waffles & Ice Cream is creating breakfast ice cream sandwiches. To push this idea even further, the ice cream that's sandwiched between freshly baked waffles comes in breakfast-inspired flavors like blueberry muffin and banana nut from Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream. In total, there will be 16 rotating ice cream flavors to choose from when ordering the unique Belgian waffle breakfast.
Co-founder Eric Moore was inspired to launch this unique breakfast menu item after fond memories from childhood that involved visits to the Jersey shore boardwalk and eating ice cream sandwiches.
