Odorous Virtual Reality Masks

The Feelreal VR Mask Lets You Experience Virtual Scents and Touch

The Feelreal VR Mask is a virtual reality mask that gives you the senses of both touch and smell in virtual environments. The device is fitted with an odor generator that must be fitted with seven removable 'smell cartridges' which vaporize a mixture of scents in order to generate the appropriate odor depending on what movie you're watching or what game you're playing.

For the present, the 'smell bank' covers flowers, the ocean, burning rubber, fire, gunpowder, the jungle and aphrodisiacs. However, Feelreal will be offering other predesigned smells and will also accept orders for custom odors.

The Feelreal VR Mask also includes micro-coolers and heaters that generation sensations of heat and wind, as well as haptic motors for force feedback and an ultrasonic ionizing system that creates a tactile mist sensation.

Whereas 'virtual reality' once implied visuals only, the Feelreal VR Mask and other similar products are bringing in one of the most powerful yet understated sensations -- the sense of olfaction, or smell -- to the worlds of gaming and multimedia entertainment.
