This immersive virtual reality installation fuses together two seemingly opposing concepts -- nature and technology. Although most virtual reality projects occur through a headset, 'In the Eyes of an Animal' takes participants in the forest, essentially bringing them to the world that they are virtually experiencing.
The futuristic project lets participants fly above trees, come close to hi-definition critters, and experience the Grizedale forest from an animal's point of view. Furthermore, the virtual reality installation will provide more information on the capabilities of Lidar data, a remote sensing technology. After scanning the Grizedale forest with a Lidar scanner, the points collected are combined with other data gained from CT scanning and hotogrammetry techniques. All together, these technologies are able to provide enhanced audio sensations and highly immersive hyper-realistic experiences.
