As part of an effort to communicate just how important water is to our daily lives, 'charity: water' created a unique virtual reality event in New York City.
The NYC exhibit featured viewing stations constructed of yellow jerry cans, in which event attendees could step into with a pair of headphones and a VR headset. From there, visitors were able to fully immerse themselves into 'The Source,' a VR film that shares the story of a 13-year-old girl from Ethiopia who spends most of her time going to collect fresh drinking water to bring back to her family, while also trying to get herself an education.
Virtual reality technology is particularly powerful as a storytelling tool for charities, as it gives people the chance to truly put themselves in the shoes of another person who may not be as fortunate.
