Squeaky Bean, a Compleat Food Group brand, is turning a classic British staple on its head with the launch of its new vegan sausage rolls.
Officially called the Squeaky Bean Snack Sausage Rolls, the new meat-free product is made from a blend of wheat and pea protein chopped up into bacon-style pieces and paired with onions and herbs. The whole thing is then wrapped up in a delicious puffy pastry. As the brand explains, this mixture "perfectly mimics and matches a meat sausage roll for both taste and texture." The idea is to make premium meat mimetic sausage rolls more accessible to consumers who are reducing or even eliminating meat from their diets.
The new vegan sausage rolls will be available from Sainsbury’s in packs of eight as of May 3, 2023.
