Upcycled Food and Kerry Partner to Develop New Protein Crisp Ingredient

Upcycled Food Inc. has partnered with Kerry to develop a new protein crisp made using upcycled ingredients that would have otherwise been thrown away. The new plant-based protein crisps are not a standalone snack but rather an ingredient that can be added to other food products to provide them with additional texture and nutrition.

According to the company, the crisps are 40% protein and 16% fiber and have been purposely formulated to be suitable for vegan, kosher, and vegetarian food products.

"Value-added ingredient applications like our new crisp offer a platform for finished product innovation, thus enabling more partners to have a bigger impact," said Dan Kurzrock, founder and chief executive officer of Berkeley-based Upcycled Food.
