Prefabricated Stucco Homes

This Contemporary Home is Split into Two Distinct Wings

'Aamodt Plumb Architects' designed a modern home that is divided into two distinct wings. One of the advantages of prefabricated homes is that they are easy to assemble. However, the predetermined structure does not always fit on a given property.

The 'Modern Texas Prefab' is a contemporary home located on the edge of a scenic lake in Austin, Texas. Although the home was prefabricated, the architects would have needed to cut down a group of mature trees to complete the original design. In order to avoid felling the trees, the architects decided to split the home into two distinct wings. As a result, one half of the home is covered in black-charred timber and the other half is finished with white stucco. The division of the home provides scenic views of the lake and the surrounding trees.
