Concrete-Inspired Marshmallows

These Traditional Danish Treats Have a Fake Concrete Exterior

London-based Goldsmith Kia Utzon-Frank designed a line of traditional Danish treats that appear to have a concrete exterior. The traditional marshmallow candies have a soft Italian meringue center with a thin marzipan base that is covered in a tempered chocolate. In order to create the Brutalist architecture-themed concrete layer, the chocolate is mixed white with natural black colors such as charcoal, dark rice and black sesame.

The confections are available in multiple geometric shapes such as pyramids, cubes, spheres and half spheres, all featuring different textures and designs. The designer wanted to create a contrast between the hard exterior and the soft interior by adding pops of color into the mixture. These traditional Danish treats have a design twist that is unique in the candy world.
