The Toronto Black Film Festival Celebrates Black History Month

The Fabienne Colas Foundation recently celebrated Black History Month with the Toronto Black Film Festival. Unlike the Toronto International Film Festival, this event was dedicated to giving a voice Toronto's black community.

The Toronto Black Film Festival consisted of a series of film screenings that took place between February 10th to 14th. The festival was designed to provide a platform for showcasing some of the most outstanding films from Toronto's black community. According to the event's website, the goal of the festival was "to encourage the development of the independent film industry and to promote more films on the reality of black people from around the globe." In turn, the films helped spark conversation about cultural, social and economic issues facing black communities.

The festival demonstrates how the medium of film can be used to bring different cultural communities together and promote understanding.
