Eggcentric Abodes

‘The Original Dream' is an Eggcellent Creation

When most people finish a carton of eggs, their first instinct is to discard (or hopefully, to recycle!) what remains, but Australian studio Goldenhem opted for a different path: they built a house and called it 'The Original Dream.'

Inspired by a Howard Arkley painting The Original Dream is built almost exclusively from recycled and recolored egg cartons in order to replicate the look and feel of the ideal suburban home depicted in the painting.

The finished house is definitely cool and shows how much can be accomplished with a seemingly innocuous material by applying a little creativity. Whether or not you'd want to live in it, however, is another story altogether.
