Photographer Niki Boon is capturing her children's technology-free lives through her photo series titled "Childhood in the Raw."
The New Zealand photographer and mother of four is documenting her children's alternative upbringing, in which she is raising them in a rural environment removed from modern electronic devices and technology. The black and white film photographs depict Boon's children and extended family playing in mud, exploring nature, embracing animals, and growing together.
After having doubts that an alternative upbringing was the right thing to do, Boon began documenting her kids and their every day adventures as a way to reassure herself and her husband that her children were developing healthily and thriving.
The project aimed to move people, either negatively or positively, to make more conscious decisions about the role that technology plays in their lives.
