Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the Switch House is an additional building attached to the Tate Modern art gallery in London, England.
The building comes across like a modern-day pyramid with its triangular shape and brown brick exterior. While the large 10-storey building does feature various art installations -- it is a piece of art in itself. The shape and design of the interior makes it so that the gallery experience for viewers is immersive and interactive. The views of the surrounding city and its architecture are proof of this, with the multi-faceted building able to showcase areas of the city in a new and unique way.
The designers of the Switch House relished in the prospect of creating something from an existing structure rather than starting from scratch, because it required more creativity on their end. They believe this process is the future of architecture.
