In response to the question "What beer would you want with you if you were stuck on a desert island?" Dogfish Head Craft Brewery created its own survival beer. The product is touted as a "nutrient-rich survival beer" and comes in a limited-edition bottle that is packed with a Swiss army knife, a blanket and a rope.
The beer for survivalists is a Belgian-style fruit ale that is packed with nutrient-dense superfoods, such as blueberries, acai and goji berries, purple sweet potatoes, rose hips, chia seeds, flax seeds, as well as oats and the ancient grains spelt and quinoa.
'It’s The End of the Wort As We Know It' has been found to be a beer that is extremely rich in vitamins and contains 90% of one's recommended daily intake of folic acid. However, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery founder and CEO Sam Calagione notes that: "We are not making any health claims in association with this beer. We are merely sharing our brewing process and the culinary ingredients we chose for the recipe that are rich in alluring aromas and flavors."
