The Milk VR app recently added a feature that allows users to watch Sundance films on their smartphone. While the Sundance Film Festival is a highly exclusive affair, consumers can now get a glimpse of the festivities from the comfort of their own home.
To celebrate the Sundance Film Festival, the Milk VR app is giving users an opportunity to watch more than a dozen VR films for free. The application was created using Immersive Media’s IM360 and the films will be accessible for several weeks. The Sundance films available range from Vrse’s 'Waves of Grace' to Reggie Watts’ 'Waves.' The idea behind the promotion is to make VR films more accessible to those outside the film industry.
The promotion not only indicates the risin popularity of VR films, but the democratization of film festivals through the use of new technology. As Sundance representative Shari Frilot explains, "this is a natural extension of what we’ve been doing all along to try to give access to people outside of Park City."
