Neon Light Swings

Artist Su-Mei Tse Uses Illuminated Tubes for Everyday Sculptures

Su-Mei Tse, a musician, artist and photographer based in Luxembourg, has created two visually striking sculptures that depict everyday objects. Yet she has transcended them above the ordinary by using a relatively unorthodox material. In place of the traditional rope and wood or plastic for the swing and metal for the birdcage, Su-Mei Tse has fashioned them out of neon lighting.

Interestingly, Su-Mei Tse's swing is powered by kinetic energy. Hence, it encourages people to swing in it in order to see its true potential. Controlled by a motor embedded in the ceiling, it takes the playground experience to a whole new level. As for the birdcage, although it might blind its occupant, it provides an illuminating prison that may be more enjoyable than the more common and dull version.
