Glass is a solid material, yet Ohad Benit's Stress lights certainly might fool someone at first glance. The series of lamps were inspired by soap bubbles, with a bulbous, expanding form that makes them look as though their liquid membranes are constantly moments away from popping.
The Stress lights come in several different styles. There are four different levels of floor lamps —
the main difference between those being their heights — and one suspended pendant lamp. All five of these lamps feature a glass bulb enclosed within a brass frame. However, the glass expands slightly beyond the confines of the brass, as if the glass were a soap bubble being blown out of a wand.
The lights take their name from the apparent stress between the two materials (given their illusion of pressing up against one another.)
